As reported by USA Today, a former USC football player has filed a lawsuit against the university.
In which he alleges that the school is responsible for a heart attack that effectively eliminated his chances of an NFL career. The heart attack he claims was caused by pain killers he was given while playing football for the university.
The player, Armond Armstead, was a defensive lineman for the USC Trojans from 2008 through 2010. While he played for the Trojans Armstead was treated with Toradol, a nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drug, along with other drugs, for a broken foot and a shoulder injury.
In his complaint he alleges the the dosing he was given exceeded the maximum dosage guidelines and contributed to the heart attack that he suffered in 2011.
Armstead did not enter the 2011 NFL Draft but decided the continue playing for USC for his senior season.
