It is one of the rare paintings where the canvas is a square instead of usual rectangle. The painting is at display in a Vienna museum. Gustav Klimt (1862? 1918), an Austrian symbolist painter, besides usual paintings, has also done quite a few murals and sketches. He also tried his hand on other art objects and forms also.

The art work of Klimt mainly focused on the female body with an element of eroticism. The real recognition to his art came with his painting 'Death and Life', which received first prize in the world exhibitions in Rome in 1911. Moreover, Klimt's painting 'Landhaus am Attersee' was sold for $29,128,000 in 2003.

Klimt died on February 6, 1918, due to influenza epidemic in Vienna and was buried at the Hietzing Cemetery in the city.
