Free Skin Cancer Screenings in Tarpon Springs - Tarpon Springs ...

Florida Hospital North Pinellas will offer free skin cancer screenings to the public on Monday, May 6.

The screenings are a part of "Melanoma Monday," a national initiative by the American Academy of Dermatology to raise awareness about skin cancers. The organization encourages people to get checked often to increase early detection of skin cancers since it is highly curable if caught at an early stage.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, according to the academy. More than 80 percent of all skin cancers can be attributed to the exposure of UV radiation from the sun.

On Monday at the hospital, surgical oncologist, Dr. Douglas S. Reintgen and Director of Oncology, Nurse Rosemary Giuliano will host the cancer screenings.

The event will take place in the Surgical Institute located on the hospital campus at 1501 Alternate 19 South, Suite T in Tarpon Springs.

This event is free and open to the public, reservations are not required, and walk-ins are welcome and encouraged. For more information call: 727-934-6797.
