EA may not be able to create NCAA licensed college football games, but they will be able to create college football titles regardless. The publisher announcement a new three-year contract with the College Licensing Company, which oversees official licensing for several major colleges in the US.
?CLC, as trademark licensing agent for schools, signed an agreement extending EA?s rights to produce and sell a College Video Game for a three-year term,? CLC spokesperson Andrew Giangola told GamesBeat.
The deal starts on July 1, 2014, but it does not grant exclusive rights to EA Sports. This is most likely in response to EA's recent $27 million settlement in an antitrust lawsuit claiming that the company unfairly benefited from preventing competitors from creating NCAA games, since the NCAA had an exclusive rights deal with EA.
